  KNOWING THE SCORE
The Wolf of Wall Street
Martin Scorsese, 2014
.......................................................................................................................................
The film began with a couple of blurred images, one of which seemed to define Max Cady's (Robert De Niro) character. What are we referring to?
If Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) was the Wolf of Wall Street, Mr. Hanna (Matthew McConaughey) had to be the king. He never achieved the same level of success, but he was Jordan's mentor and it would have been a fitting title for someone who had a habit that reminded us of the biggest one of them all.

(1) Cady was like the hawk that flew across the screen in that they were both predatory animals. (2) We counted five, but only four were mentioned by name - Tropic of Cancer, Plexus, Nexus and Sexus. (3) Aggravated Battery (4) Because Sam hid an important piece of evidence that could have kept him out of prison. (5) It reminded him that he was human during his incarceration.

(6) It was because of the sixth amendment. He said there was no way he could serve the law in that capacity. (7) He told Sam that he learned how to get in touch with his feminine side. (8) A (9) There were a couple of reasons. She heard Sam talking to Lori on the phone in their bedroom, and because Sam had a prior history of infidelity. (10) Because she only saw the back of his head in the movie theater. She saw him again when she looked out her bedroom window, but it was too dark outside and he was too far away.

Unless you're a zombie or some carnivorous monstrosity that feeds on Hypothalamus glands. If you know anything about evolutionary biology, you know why Dr. Green's (Penelope Ann Miller) initial idea to kill the creature in The Relic would have worked. Of course, we're assuming you don't.
Put your knowledge of all-things that creep, slither and crawl to the test with the only movie monster survival guide/quiz book of its kind.

What will you do when they come for you?

Lights, Camera, Trivia
..................................
2. Max became a force to be reckoned with during his incarceration, not only physically, but intellectually as well by reading anything he could get his hands on. He never did say who his favorite author was, but that distinction probably belonged to Henry Miller. How many of his books were referenced in the film?

3. In a perfect world, convicted murderers, rapists and pedophiles would all get exactly what they deserve. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, we say. What crime was Max convicted of?

4. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for one's own actions? Max blamed Sam (Nick Nolte) for his incarceration. Why?

5. "An evil or wicked action, habit or characteristic." That's one definition of the word "vice." Max thought he had only one - the cigars he smoked. He also believed that his habit helped him in some way. Tell us how.

6. Ever wonder where old movie characters go when their roles are no longer needed? They turn to us to find work in other films. Our agency hasn't actually placed anyone yet, but we will - with a little help from our friends (in higher places). Sam Bowden came in the other day. His credentials were impressive, but something was missing from his application. Guess what he told us when we asked him why he left the job he had in the Public Defender's office?

7. Know what we learned from this film? Nothing that a few years behind bars couldn't teach us. What did Max say he learned "From the get-go" in prison?

8. If you think laughter can't drive someone to rage and bodily dismemberment, think possessed right hands and/or annoying laugh boxes. Lori's (Illeana Douglas) incessant giggling stopped when Cady did which of the following?
A. Broke her arm.
B. Exclaimed, "I've got you now, bitch!"
C. Tore a chunk of flesh out of her cheek with his teeth.
D. Shoved her face into a pillow.

9. We could tell you what to look for if you have any suspicions about a cheating spouse, but we'd rather not. At least not yet. Why did Leigh (Jessica Lange) think her husband might be having an affair?

10. If we had to choose a question to double the money that Max had in his savings account, this would be a smart bet. Leigh didn't recognize him when he returned her dog's collar despite having seen him prior to that. Do you remember why?
