  FEAR HIS NAME
Friday the 13th: The New Blood
John Carl Buechler, 1988
.......................................................................................................................................
Suppose you saw only what Tommy (Thom Matthews) saw at the end of Part VI. Would that have been enough to put your mind at ease if you were in his shoes? Probably not, right? Anchoring Jason to the bottom of Crystal Lake worked, but only for a short while. How did he escape from his watery grave?

Unless you're a zombie or some carnivorous monstrosity that feeds on Hypothalamus glands. If you know anything about evolutionary biology, you know why Dr. Green's (Penelope Ann Miller) initial idea to kill the creature in The Relic would have worked. Of course, we're assuming you don't.
Put your knowledge of all-things that creep, slither and crawl to the test with the only movie monster survival guide/quiz book of its kind.

Friday the 13th: Jason Lives
(1) Hawes noticed a couple of shovels and a can of gasoline behind the front seat of Tommy's pick-up truck. (2) The match that Tommy lit was extinguished first. (3) "Tommy, please. Let's get out of here. My heart can't take any more of this!" (4) Your car would probably drop into a gully. (5) Because Jason never wore any type of rain gear. The boot was a dead giveaway.

(6) Some type of animal blood dripping from the machete would have helped. It was too clean. Having the actor walk through a denser area of forest would have concealed the clothes he was wearing, and the last time we checked, Jason didn't wear a watch! (7) Jason decapitated Larry (Alan Blumenfeld), Stan and Katie (Ann Ryerson) with a single swing of his machete. (8) The Jack of Spades (9) Megan, her sketchpad and the Deputy's gun. (10) He wanted them to holler, but not too loud because he didn't want to wake the kids.

Friday the 13th: The New Blood
Tina's (Lar Park Lincoln) telekinetic powers accidentally set Jason free when she tried to wish her father back to life.
Hawes (Ron Palillo) knew exactly where he was going in the film's opening sequence, but wouldn't it have made more sense if he were kept in the dark? If the story played out under that scenario, the cemetery gates would have been one indication of what
Tom McLoughlin, 1986
Tommy (Thom Matthews) was up to. The other should have prompted the words, "Stop the car. This is where I get out!"

2. The rainstorm that passed through the area that night helped Jason in two ways. It extinguished the match that Tommy lit. It also cleansed his body of the worms and the maggots that were crawling all over his flesh. Which one happened first?

3. Some people never get over a broken heart. Hawes had his pushed through his back. What line of dialogue foreshadowed his demise?

4. Who wants to sit through a three-hour montage of Jason's greatest kills? We'll tell you who has to - anyone who's applying for a driver's license in or around Crystal Lake. We're not saying he'll be part of the exam, but we're not saying he won't be either. If your test mirrored Lizbeth's (Nancy McLoughlin) situation the night she was killed, and you tried drive in reverse to get away from him, what would happen?

5. Martin (Bob Larkin) assumed that the body in Jason's grave belonged to Jason himself, but anyone who has ever seen a Friday the 13th movie would have known that it was someone else. Tell us why.
6. We don't know how many people were fooled, but again, anyone who has ever seen a Friday the 13th movie would have known that Stan (Matthew Faison) wasn't Jason when the camera focused on the machete he was carrying. Put yourself in the director's chair and tell us what could have been done differently to make the scene more convincing.

7. What would a Friday the 13th movie be without its share of dim-witted characters? If a list were compiled of the most brainless, Roy (Whitney Rydbeck) would certainly rank among the top three. High praise indeed, considering those who have come before him. He did turn and run, but that was after he tried to stop Jason in a way that absolutely boggles the mind. Maybe he did notice something that made him think he could stop a machete-wielding psychopath with a paintball gun, but you'd need an Einstein-like IQ to figure that one out. You can't say he didn't know what Jason was capable of. He saw something that would have haunted him for a lifetime - had he lived that long.

8. You don't have to wait for the lights to go out to play the game that Sissy (Renee Jones) made up, but it would make it more fun.
The object was to find out which cabin Jason was in. We're going to deal the cards face up. Scream when you spot him.

9. If you really want to hear someone scream, find an open house (cabin) in the woods, get there an hour or two before anyone else arrives, pick a lock, your spot and then wait. And while you're waiting (in full Jason regalia) check and recheck your exit strategy. Tommy had one the night he escaped from the county jail. What did that involve?

10. Did you see anything that could be defined as strange or unusual in this film? We didn't. Anything that seemed a little strange was usual for a Friday the 13th movie. Sheriff Garris (David Kagen) gave his officers specific orders in regard to what he wanted them to do if they heard or saw anything. We want you to do the same thing when you're ready for your next quiz.
