  KILL OR BE KILLED
Kill Bill Vol. 1
Quentin Tarantino, 2003
.......................................................................................................................................
You're a fly on the wall in the editing room of Kill Bill Vol. 1. While watching the first cut of the Crazy 88's sequence, a question is raised.
"How are we going to get that past the ratings board?"
"Let me think. What if we drain the color to lessen the impact?"
"You want to bleach it?"
"No, black and white, like the film's opening sequence. Roll it back again and I'll show you where I think we should make the switch."
"That's it… right there."

Unless you're a zombie or some carnivorous monstrosity that feeds on Hypothalamus glands. If you know anything about evolutionary biology, you know why Dr. Green's (Penelope Ann Miller) initial idea to kill the creature in The Relic would have worked. Of course, we're assuming you don't.
Put your knowledge of all-things that creep, slither and crawl to the test with the only movie monster survival guide/quiz book of its kind.

What will you do when they come for you?
Live and learn. Learn and live!

Lights, Camera, Trivia
..................................
..................................
If you want to accuse us of making stuff up, that's fine. You know why we do it. What we don't do is spread rumors. What was Colonel Landa (Christoph Waltz) referring to in the film's opening chapter when he remarked, "The ones I've heard are all true"?
2. Suppose you escaped from Nazi-occupied France circa 1943, only to find yourself taken in by a family of bloodthirsty vampires. Would you consider that the lesser of two evils? You might. A line of dialogue in the same chapter reminded us of the Count. Anyone else catch the reference?

3. Remember when the dialogue shifted from French to English? It wasn't for the benefit of the viewer. Why the switch?

4. Uncle Aldo (Brad Pitt) wants you - to be a Basterd. Bring him a 100 Nazi scalps and you're in, even if you're not Jewish-American. If you just want to thank him, learn how to say it in the language of his favorite tribe. How's that for a token of your appreciation?

5. The Basterds seemed to be able to appear and disappear at will, and evade capture like an apparition. That was why many believed they were Golem.
The question is, did the Fuehrer (Martin Wutike) believe it?

6. You have to choose a role before we ask our next question. Do you want to play the part of a German SS officer or an Inglourious Basterd? We'll fill the boots of the other. Ready? If you chose the one we think you did, answer this question - what happens to you once you're captured.

7. Everyone makes mistakes, but ours don't get other people killed. If the Germans learned anything from the one they made after Sgt. Stiglitz's (Till Schweger) capture it was this.

8. You know who should have been shot? The person who forged Shosanna's (Melanie Laurent) citizenship papers. Introduce us to her, using the name you saw on the document.

9. Name the first character that comes to mind when
we say the words, "strangely persuasive monster." Are his initials A.H? They shouldn't be. We have someone else in mind.

10. Correct us if we're wrong, but only a few years passed between the murder of Shosanna's family and the opening of the aforementioned film, right? Why didn't anyone recognize her? The Colonel was at the premiere.

11. Some would say all it takes to liven up a place is a little alcohol. Gobbels suggested this when he was given a tour of the Gamaar.
Inglourious Basterds
(1) The rumors about Perrier's daughters proved correct. He heard they were beautiful. (2) The Colonel told Perrier that he never drank wine.
(3) The Colonel knew the family that Perrier was harboring didn't speak English. (4) Everyone knew of his affinity for the Apaches. (5) Yes, he did.
(6) The Fuehrer wanted to feed the Basterds to the rats, after he hung them from the Eiffel Tower - naked.

(7) Kill someone when you have the chance. (8) We'd like you to meet Emmanuelle Mimiux. (9) Gobbels said that in reference to Zoller, after the private talked him into switching theaters. We'll accept either one. (10) He only saw the back of her head the day she escaped from the farmhouse.
(11) Did we say, "liven up"? What we really meant was "spruce." There we go again, trying to confuse you. To answer our own question, he suggested hanging a few Greek nudes in the lobby. Paintings, that is.

Tarantino would have said that when The Bride (Uma Thurman) plucked out someone's eyeball.
